Why do I have to register to see the content?
Most of the content we post is about our kids. Since the Internet is a strange and sometimes spooky place, we don't necessarily want to share all of that information with anyone who can get online. We use the membership screening as a way to make sure we know who does have access to the content and the community. Since we also allow you to post your own responses, we want to make sure no unsavory visitors come in and wreck the experience.

How long does it take before my membership is active?
We usually activate memberships within 24 hours of submission. If it takes longer, we might not know who you are, or we might just be preoccupied. If it's been a while and you'd like to check up on your registration status, feel free to contact us.

Can I invite my own friends and family to become members?
Yes. If you'd like to invite your own friends or family, please use our contact page and choose "Preregistration request" as your subject. In the body of your message, include a brief explanation of who you'd like to invite and their email address. You can request multiple referrals at once. Provided we don't have any questions, we'll preregister the email addresses you specify so that your friends and family can get immediate activation when they register. In the near future, we'll also send email to your freind(s) to let them know you invited them.

What is preregistration and how does it work?
Preregistration is a way for trusted parties to avoid the registration activation delay. When we invite new members of our own, we preregister them so they don't have to wait for activation. You can request preregistrations for your friends and family on our contact page.

I got a message that I'm preregistered, but my membership didn't automatically activate. What's going on?
For automatic activation to work, you need to have been preregistered under the email address under which you're registering. Make sure you're trying to register with the email address at which you received your preregistration notice.

I forgot my password. What do I do?
Just provide the email address for your account on the forgot password page, and we'll email you your password.

What do you do with the information you collect when I register?
We keep it for our own personal records, so we know how to contact you and send things like Christmas cards. We don't sell or trade your information with anyone.

I don't want to use my account anymore. How do I cancel it?
If for some reason you don't want to use your account anymore, use our contact page to send us a cancelation request. If you would like us to remove any tidbit posts you've made, please let us know that too.

How often do you post new familogue entries?
It depends. Sometimes we post multiple entries on a single day, and sometimes we don't post at all for several days. Typically, we'll add several entries each week. You should find new content if you visit twice a week or so.

What does familogue mean?
Familogue is our trade name for the specific kind of blog we use to share family stories and to let our friends post their responses.

What is a tidbit?
Tidbits are our name for the responses or reactions you can post on a familogue entry. Tidbits can be as long or short as you want and can be about anything you want. It's our way of letting you participate in the site's content and with the other members. We also archive all the tidbits with the familogue content, so when Tristan and Flannery read these stories when they get bigger, they'll get to see your tidbit responses too.

How do I post a tidbit?
On each familogue entry page, there's a link on the right side to post a new tidbit. The link will take you to a form where you can enter the title and text of the tidbit. You can also get to this form from the tidbits page.

I made a mistake in a tidbit I submitted. Can I edit it?
You cannot edit tidbits after you post them. If it's something truly mortifying or egregious, you can contact us and we may be able to edit or remove it.

I saw an offensive tidbit on the site. What do I do?
Although we do make every effort to read the content members post, we can't go through all of the tidbits in the familogue. For this reason, we count on our members to help us moderate our community. If you see something offensive, threatening, or otherwise objectionable, please contact us and report it. We'll take quick action to edit or remove it.

How often do you post new photos?
We usually take photos in chunks every couple weeks. We're fairly pedantic about touching up and editing photos, so we try to disperse our postings over time. Typically we'll post quite a few at once.

Can I get high resolution versions to print at home?
Sometimes we can provide high resolution versions of images for you to print on your own photo printers. If you'd like to request a high resolution image, please use our contact form. Keep in mind that all the photos on the site belong to us, and you're not allowed to print, copy, or redistribute them without our permission.

Can I order prints of the photos online?
Not yet, but you will be able to soon. We're setting up a system with one of the major online photofinishing providers that will allow you to order prints directly from bogost.com.

My last name is Bogost too. Can I get an email account myname@bogost.com?
Sometimes we set up email forwarding or full POP3 email accounts for the very few folks out there who share our name. For some of these services we have to levy a modest fee to cover our costs. If you're interested in something like this, please contact us.

I like your site. How can I get one for my own family?
From time to time we consider developing a customized version of our familogue and album features for families interested in having their own site. The site includes web-based tools for easy administration of members and content. Please contact us for more information.

How can I contact you directly?
The easiest way to reach us is by using the contact page on the site. You can also email us directly at info@bogost.com.
